This guidebook provides occupational hygienists and other occupational health and safety (OHS) practitioners with some basic tools to conduct risk management for occupational health hazards such as biological, chemical, ergonomic (e.g. manual handling), radiation and other physical exposures (e.g. noise and vibration). It thus covers hazard identification, exposure characterisation and risk assessment, control and management. For the occupational hygienist, exposure assessment and risk assessment cannot be reasonably separated. For this reason, this guidebook is a companion guide with the ‘Occupational Hygiene Monitoring and Compliance Strategies’ (Grantham & Firth, 2014) guidebook, also published by the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
